Everyone knew it was possible but the uproar is still loud and clear. Pro players Damion “XXiF” C. and Ronald “Ronaldo” Mach have earned their spot in the duos tournament at the $30 million World Cup.
While this seems like good news, these two players in particular have a not so great history in the scene.
XXiF and Ronaldo were both banned for cheating during the third week of the qualifiers after it was discovered that they were breaking the rules by teaming. This resulted in a 14-day ban that drew a lot a criticsm from the community because it would allow them to make it back in time to play in the last several qualifiers.
The two players returned in week six but were unable to qualifity until week 8.
Epic Games have stuck to their guns in most situations and it is believed they will be doing so again by letting these players attend the event.
Prominent members of the community have been active in speaking out against these players being able to participate. DrLupo is one of this figures as he took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the subject.
He’s not alone in this as other top competitors and streamers including tfue and NICKMERCS have shared their disappointment in the situation.
Plenty of eyes will be on these two players as they move into the next stage of the event and we’re sure there will be more than a few choice words coming their way in the meantime.
